The company operates a total of 9 hotels and resorts, all strategically located in Malawi’s key business hubs and resort locations. It is Malawi’s leading and largest hospitality and tourism enterprise.

OVERVIEW

As part of its redevelopment plan, Sunbird has lined up construction and refurbishment projects that would be implemented in its various properties.

THE NEED

Sunbird is looking for a reputable firm that would be able to carry out the following projects.

1. Sunbird Capital – Rooms and Restaurant Refurbishment
2. Sunbird Mount Soche – Rooms Refurbishment
3. Sunbird Nopola – Rooms Construction (limited scope)
4. Sunbird Nkopola – Fence Construction
5. Sunbird Livingstonia Beach – Fence Construction
6. Catering Solutions Ltd – Kameza Recreation Centre
7. Catering Solutions Ltd – Construction of Business Class Lounge at Kamuzu International Airport
8. Sunbird Mzuzu – Club House Refurbishment
9. Interior Décor Services

Interested multidisciplinary teams are therefore being requested to submit their Expressions of Interest to the undersigned providing all prerequisite information. Qualifying firms will be sent a Request for Proposal (RFP) document to enable them submit their detailed technical and financial proposals.

PRE-QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

The following prerequisites should be met in order to qualify to receive an RFP document. Firms who fail to comply with any of the below criteria will be disqualified.

1. Proof of registration with the Registrar of Companies
2. Valid VAT Registration Certificate and Tax Clearance Certificate
3. Company profile and CVs of key personnel to be assigned the task as an expression of technical capacity
4. Details of specific experience of the firm relating to the assignment, with supporting documents such as contract particulars and list of consultants, contact details of the lead consultant for each contract referred to, with works of a similar nature and size for the last three (3) years
5. Qualifications and experience of key management and technical personnel (ie., full-time professional and technical staff complement) including period worked with the tenderer’s establishment;
6. Should have a valid operating Licence from Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA);
7. References from at least three clients where similar services have been provided in the past five years

Expressions of interest should be submitted to the following, not later than 5th June, 2026.
