Role Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Weighbridge Operator to manage the weighing operations at our facility in Blantyre. The Weighbridge Operator will ensure accurate weight measurements of loading and offloading vehicles, maintain records, and support efficient operations while adhering to safety and compliance protocols. This role is crucial to maintaining the integrity of ETG’s operations and will require vigilance, accuracy, and a commitment to quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the weighbridge equipment to weigh all incoming and outgoing vehicles accurately.
- Record weight data in a systematic and organised manner, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Verify and reconcile all weighbridge records with dispatch and receiving documentation.
- Coordinate closely with the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks.
- Inspect vehicles for compliance with safety standards and report any irregularities.
- Address queries related to weighbridge operations and provide necessary support to drivers.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of weighbridge equipment and report any malfunctions immediately.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
- Certificate in tertiary and computer education will be an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a weighbridge operator or in a similar role, preferably within the logistics or agribusiness sector.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational skills and ability to maintain records.
- Basic computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and data entry.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members and external drivers.
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
- Additional Requirements: Knowledge of safety protocols in weighbridge operations is an added advantage.
