Evidence Action is an International, nonprofit NGO which works with partners in Africa and Asia to scale up evidence based and cost-effective interventions to pull people out of poverty. Its vision is to building a world where hundred and millions of people in poorest places have better opportunities and their lives are measurably improved.

Currently, the organization is implementing program in nine countries of Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Nigera, Liberia, Cameroon, Pakistan and India and the head office is based in Washing DC USA. In Malawi, we are implementing two programs which are Safe Water Now in 10 districts of Blantyre, Chiradzulu, Balaka, Mwanza, Neno, Machinga, Mangochi, Phalombe and Ntcheu and also Integrated Deworming and Iron & Folic Acid (IFA) program nationwide.

Positions Available 

We seek to engage services of suitably qualified individuals for the Temporary Field Officer position.

JOB PURPOSE

The position core responsibility is to provide support to program activities through data collection

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Accurately collect data in the program’s catchment areas, using electronic and/or paper instruments. This includes but not limited to Carbon spot check data, Chlorine delivery and Upgrade data.
  • Participate in bench-testing of electronic instruments as part of training and instrument improvement process
  • Timely and meaningfully support flow of information from the field to the Program Leadership by utilizing “soft feedback” tools.
  • Support data flow process from the field to the office, by adhering to the data flow protocol that indicates when and how submit data
  • Maintain cordial public relation with local stakeholders, including government officials and community members, through observing meaningful and respectful engagement in the course of field work.
  • Support toward the cost-efficiency of the organization and programs
  • Support in field supervision in Chlorine Dispenser/ Inline Chlorination (ILC) installed water points to check for functionality and proper usage.
  • Engage with local stakeholders with guidance from the catchment Officer and or Associate Area Coordinator.
  • Support in conducting Program community education meetings to device users in order to promote high adoption rate.
  • Support in filling all necessary program documentation from field to the office level. This includes reporting any issue from the field to relevant Officers.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned to you by your supervisor or his/her designate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of Diploma in any of the following; Community Development, ICT, WASH, Health and/or those with MSCE with 3 years of field experience in data collection/surveys might be considered.

The position requires data collection through use of smart phones which are provided by the organization however if you have your smartphone, you might at times be asked to use it for data collection therefore those with personal smartphones have an added advantage.

As per Evidence Action’s overall performance Contract and strategic plan Key Performance Indicators (KPI) detailed in the employee’s work plan

All these positions are based in Mwanza, Neno, Chiradzulu, Blantyre, Zomba, Balaka, Mangochi, Machinga, Phalombe and Ntcheu districts.
