Position: Temporary Constituency Civic Education Assistants and Voter Educators

About the Role
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is seeking 229 Temporary Constituency Civic Education Assistants and Voter Educators to support civic and voter education (CVE) activities across all constituencies. The role involves engaging communities, distributing educational materials, and ensuring the electorate is well-informed and motivated to participate in electoral processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Distribute civic and voter education (CVE) materials within the constituency.
- Organize meetings with chiefs, block leaders, and community members.
- Conduct CVE meetings and awareness sessions.
- Develop and submit constituency work plans to District Election Coordinators (DECs).
- Collaborate with stakeholders involved in CVE programs.
- Monitor and assess CSOs and service providers conducting CVE in the constituency.
- Evaluate the impact of CVE strategies at ward/constituency level.
- Provide feedback to District Elections Officers and Assistant Civic and Voter Education Officers (ACVEOs).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- Diploma in Education, Community Development, Marketing, Arts, Humanities, or Journalism is an added advantage.
- Must be a Malawian citizen with a valid National ID.
Core Competencies
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and meet deadlines.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in the local language spoken in the constituency.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Must be physically fit.
- Demonstrated impartiality in electoral matters.
Additional Requirements
- Must provide evidence of residence in the constituency with a letter stamped by the Traditional Authority (TA).
- A letter from the District Commissioner (DC) confirming that the applicant is not a government employee.
