Position: Senior Planning Engineer
Posts Available: 2 (1 per site)
Are you a detail-driven Planning Engineer with a passion for infrastructure?
We are looking for exceptional professionals* to lead the development and execution of the Programme of Works. Your role will shape the timeline, strategy, and success of this multi-million kwacha infrastructure project.
Qualifications & Skills (Must-Have):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s is a plus)
- Minimum 8 years experience in road/infrastructure construction projects
- At least 2 years in a similar planning role under FIDIC-based contracts
- Proficient in *Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel for schedule and resource planning
- Strong understanding of highway construction processes (earthworks, subbase, base, asphalt, drainage)
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Solid grasp of contract management, critical path method (CPM), and risk analysis
- Excellent organizational, communication, and team coordination skills
Key Responsibilities:
Contractual & Technical Duties:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Programme of Works covering:
- Key milestone dates (Commencement, Site Access, Completion)
- Sequence planning for submissions, procurement, and construction
- Engineer’s review/approval timelines
- Environmental & Social (ES) compliance scheduling
- Testing & inspection timelines
- Remedial works, float analysis, and delay recovery strategies
- Public holidays, weather contingencies, and plant/material delivery dates
- Resource loading, production rates, and progress S-curves
- Full supporting narrative (methods, resource estimates, productivity assumptions)
Project Control & Reporting Duties:
- Prepare baseline and revised construction schedules
- Collaborate with engineers, site supervisors, and procurement teams
- Monitor progress on-site and update schedules accordingly
- Identify risks, delays, or deviations and propose corrective actions
- Provide weekly & monthly progress reports, Gantt charts, and critical path diagrams
- Conduct planning reviews and participate in coordination meetings
- Track material lead times, logistics, and subcontractor performance
- Prepare resource histograms, cash flow forecasts, and manpower plans
