Position: Senior Planning Engineer

Are you a detail-driven Planning Engineer with a passion for infrastructure?
We are looking for exceptional professionals* to lead the development and execution of the Programme of Works. Your role will shape the timeline, strategy, and success of this multi-million kwacha infrastructure project.
Qualifications & Skills (Must-Have):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s is a plus)
  • Minimum 8 years experience in road/infrastructure construction projects
  • At least 2 years in a similar planning role under FIDIC-based contracts
  • Proficient in *Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel for schedule and resource planning
  • Strong understanding of highway construction processes (earthworks, subbase, base, asphalt, drainage)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Solid grasp of contract management, critical path method (CPM), and risk analysis
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and team coordination skills
Key Responsibilities:
Contractual & Technical Duties:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Programme of Works covering:
  • Key milestone dates (Commencement, Site Access, Completion)
  • Sequence planning for submissions, procurement, and construction
  • Engineer’s review/approval timelines
  • Environmental & Social (ES) compliance scheduling
  • Testing & inspection timelines
  • Remedial works, float analysis, and delay recovery strategies
  • Public holidays, weather contingencies, and plant/material delivery dates
  • Resource loading, production rates, and progress S-curves
  • Full supporting narrative (methods, resource estimates, productivity assumptions)
Project Control & Reporting Duties:
  • Prepare baseline and revised construction schedules
  • Collaborate with engineers, site supervisors, and procurement teams
  • Monitor progress on-site and update schedules accordingly
  • Identify risks, delays, or deviations and propose corrective actions
  • Provide weekly & monthly progress reports, Gantt charts, and critical path diagrams
  • Conduct planning reviews and participate in coordination meetings
  • Track material lead times, logistics, and subcontractor performance
  • Prepare resource histograms, cash flow forecasts, and manpower plans
