The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant position within the Corporation.

POSITION: PAINTER

Grade: ES13

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Reporting to: Administration Officer

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, repairing cracks and removing old paint or wallpaper.
  • Mixing paints and coatings to achieve desired colours and textures, and applying them using brushes, rollers or spray equipment.
  • Using various tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, spray guns, ladders, scaffolding and specialised equipment.
  • Advising clients on colour choices, material selection and appropriate painting techniques.
  • Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards and client expectations.
  • Adhering to safety regulations and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment, cleaning work sites and disposing of waste materials properly.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Applicants must have:

  1. Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
  2. Completed a painting apprenticeship or obtained a certificate from a recognised institution.
  3. At least 1 year of relevant working experience.

  • Be physically fit.
  • Be able to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have clear communication skills when dealing with other tradespeople and clients.
