Opco Limited is a construction and plant hiring company that has built a reputation for reliability and efficiency in the Malawian construction and plant hire sector.

The company operates primarily within Malawi, focusing on major urban cities such as Lilongwe, and Blantyre. Opco also extends its services to rural areas where construction and infrastructure development projects are taking place.

Opco Limited provides a wide range of construction services, including civil engineering, and building works. In addition, the company offers plant hire services, supplying heavy machinery and equipment such as excavators, folk lifts and cranes to contractors and construction firms. OPCO Limited is looking for candidates to fill the following positions;

ROLE TITLE: FOREMAN (BLANTYRE)

Reporting to: Site Engineer

Duties and Responsibility

• Plan and utilise resources and materials to ensure the achievement of maximum output efficiencies to meet production and time targets
• Read and interpret architectural or structural engineering drawings and details
• Record information, including personnel, production and operational data on the specified forms and reports
• Daily, complete Quality Assurance checklists ensuring specifications are met
• Overall site supervision.
• Ensure that work quality and good workmanship of very high standards are achieved.
• Control safety and health issues on site by maintaining a clean and tidy site.
• Control and ensure the safety of all company resources and security on site.
• Allocate work targets to workers on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Work according to management or Site Agent instructions.
• Targets should be achieved according to time frame given in work schedules.
• Make sure that work is handled very professionally and stick to timelines and deadlines to make sure the best results are delivered on time.

Qualification and Experience

• Trade Certificate/Diploma
• At least 10 years’ experience in construction and built environment.
• Proven experience in foremanship and ability to set construction targets.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil or structural engineering and service engineering drawings or details.
• Must be proficient in supervising and maintaining a busy construction site.
• Minimum Grade 1 certificate in bricklaying or City & Guilds Technician Diploma in Construction or its equivalent obtained from reputable training institutions. Those with NCIC Certificate in Foremanship (Level 1) will have an added advantage.
• Must be trustworthy, willing to work occasional long hours and must showcase good workmanship.
• Willing to re-locate anywhere in Malawi
