Finance and Operations Manager

Mphunzitsi SACCO, an affiliate of Malawi Union of Savings & Credit Cooperative Ltd (MUSCCO), is a member owned and democratically controlled financial cooperative society that aims at providing quality and affordable financial services to its members (Teachers and any payroll based employees).

Mphunzitsi SACCO is seeking a Finance and Operations Manager. The Finance and Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s finances and administrative operations in accordance with relevant rules and regulations and in line with Mphunzitsi Sacco’s financial and administrative management policy provisions. The Finance and Operations Manager will supervise grant management and financial reporting on grant performance and will ensure best use of resources by managing the preparation of sound budgets, monitoring company’s expenses, and assuring timely preparation of financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of financial and operational management of the company in compliance with relevant industry policy, regulation and laws;
  • Supervise all financial and operational activities to ensure optimal utilization of resources through sound budgeting and control.
  • Timely preparation of financial and regulatory reports with strict deadline;
  • Supervise and lead a team of finance and operational staff as designated;
  • Analyse, financial and operational information for management decision-making;
  • Ensure a robust financial and operational control environment;
  • Manage SACCO audits and ensure that successful conclusion of recommendations.
  • Ensure effective and efficient stewardship of SACCO’s assets and financial resources.
  • Manage external stakeholder relationships i.e MRA, RBM, Banks, etc.
  • Represent the Chief Executive Officer when assigned.

Qualifications, knowledge skills and requirements

  • Qualified accountant CA(Mw) CPA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Those with bachelor’s degree and partly qualified with a professional qualification can apply.
  • Not less than 3 years of working experience in the financial industry with previous roles in financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of International Accounting Standards.
  • Familiarity and ability to adapt to new software and financial management systems;
  • Excellent communication, supervision, management, and leadership skills;
  • Fluency in English and excellent oral and written skills required.
  • Applicant should not be less than 35 years of age.
