Provision of Legal Services

Feed the Children Malawi is a non-profit organization committed to creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry. The organization works to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable children, families, and communities through integrated development and humanitarian programs focusing on nutrition, early childhood development, livelihoods and resilience, water, sanitation and hygiene, and emergency response. In Malawi, Feed the Children collaborates with communities, government institutions, and development partners to promote sustainable, child-focused community development and strengthen support systems for vulnerable households in Malawi.

The project operates in three districts of Malawi including Rumphi, Salima and Mzimba covering 5 TAs.

Feed the Children Malawi is inviting expression of interest from qualified law firms or legal practitioners for the provision of comprehensive legal services and support on an as when needed basis.

• The contract will be for an initial period of one year, with possible renewal based on satisfactory performance and organizational needs.
• Required legal services include:
  • Corporate and governance law.
  • Employment and labour law
  • Contract drafting, review and negotiation.
  • Procurement and contractual legal advice
  • Litigation and dispute resolution
  • Legal representation before courts, tribunals, arbitration proceedings, and regulatory engagements, as may be required.
  • Compliance, regulatory and risk management advisory services
  • Provision of written and verbal legal opinions on operational, contractual, employment, governance and compliance matters
  • Legal research and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations
  • Staff capacity building, legal awareness and compliance training

Eligible bidders must demonstrate:

• Relevant legal service experience at least 10 years of doing similar services.
• Valid registration and practicing credentials
• Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Tax compliance
• Physical office presence in Malawi
• Experience supporting NGOs, international organizations, donor-funded programs, or corporate entities.
• Have the capacity to provide timely and professional legal services.
