Introduction

The U.S. Embassy will dispose of nine (9) motor vehicles through a live auction that will take place on May 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interested bidders are invited to participate in accordance with the instructions provided below.

Instructions

1. Viewing

• Viewing of motor vehicles will be on Thursday, May 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. only
• All viewers must bring their national ID for entry into the compound.
• There is no parking space available on the premises. Interested bidders will have to find heir own parking space
• Entry into the compound for viewing will be limited to 50 people at one time.
• All viewers must comply with the instructions of the security officers on site.

2. Bidding Process

This will be a live auction and will be held on May 13, 2026, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at Nico house car park.

• All interested bidders are expected to deposit a refundable fee of K5,000,000.00 (Five Million Malawi Kwacha).
• Deposits via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) only to be made by May 12, 2026, by 12:00 p.m. (Refer to bank details below)
• When submitting proof of deposits, bidders must include in their email (to lilongweC@state.gov):
  • Full name of bidder
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Bank details

3. Payment Terms

Successful bidders must complete payment by May 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Failure to make the payment by this time will eliminate the bidder.

Payment must be made via bank deposit or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

4. Payment Verification and Default

• In the case of EFT payments, collection of goods will only be permitted after the cashier confirms receipt of funds.
• If payment is not received within the specified timeframe, the offer will be withdrawn, and the next highest-ranked bidder will be contacted.

5. Tax Liability and Clearance

• Successful bidders are responsible for ensuring that all required customs clearance formalities are completed with MRA prior to collection of the motor vehicles.
• Proof of clearance by MRA is a prerequisite for collecting motor vehicles.

6. Collection of Items

• Collection motor vehicles will only permitted after full payment, confirmation and completion of all required clearance procedures.
• Payment confirmation and collection may only be completed on working days.
• The purchaser is responsible for removing the vehicle from the facility.
