Introduction

The U.S. Embassy will dispose of household furniture through a live auction that will take place on July 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interested bidders are invited to participate in accordance with the instructions provided below.

Instructions

1. Viewing

• Viewing of the furniture will be exclusively on Tuesday, June 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• All viewers must present a valid National ID to be granted entry into the compound.
• There is no parking space available within the premises. Interested bidders will have to make their own parking arrangements
• Entry into the compound for viewing will be limited to 50 people at one time. Entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis
• All viewers must comply with the instructions of the security officers on site.

2. Bidding Process

• This will be a live auction and will be held on July 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the U.S.
  Embassy Warehouse
• The maximum number of bidders allowed into the warehouse compound is 50. Entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis
• On the day of the auction, all interested bidders are required to deposit a refundable fee of MK100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Malawi Kwacha) on site in order to participate in bidding

3. Payment Terms

• Successful bidders must complete payment on site by 3:00 p.m. on July 1. Failure to make the payment by this time will eliminate the bidder.
• Payment must be made in cash, or by immediate bank transfer. The bank transfer must be confirmed by the on-site cashier immediately.

4. Payment Verification and Default

• In the case ot EF payments, collection of goods will only be permitted after the cashier contirms receipt of funds.
• If payment is not received within the specified timeframe, the offer will be withdrawn, and the next highest-ranked bidder will be contacted.

5. Tax Liability and Clearance

• Successful bidders are responsible for ensuring that all required customs clearance formalities are completed with MRA prior to collection of the items.
• MRA official will be present on site on the day of the auction.
• Proof of clearance by MRA is a prerequisite for collecting furniture.

6. Collection of Items

• Collection of furniture items will only be permitted after full payment, confirmation and completion of all required clearance procedures.
• Collection must be completed on July 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
• The purchaser is responsible for removing the furniture from the facility.
