About the Role
Zion of Glory Ministry is seeking a motivated, committed, and experienced individual to serve as a Community & Church Development Facilitator. The successful candidate will coordinate community trainings, support vocational skills development, manage group loan activities, strengthen partnerships, and facilitate church and community transformation programs.
The position requires regular fieldwork across Balaka, Ntcheu, Machinga and Lilongwe districts while working closely with volunteers, women, youth groups, church leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnerships & Pastor Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with churches, community leaders, NGOs, CBOs, and government departments
- Work closely with pastors to align church activities with community development goals
- Identify partnership and resource mobilization opportunities for ministry programs
- Youth, Women & Volunteer Engagement
- Mobilize and train volunteers, women, and youth groups for community development activities
- Facilitate leadership, entrepreneurship, and empowerment trainings
- Support churches and community groups in proposal writing and project development
- Economic Empowerment, Loans & Agriculture
- Coordinate value chain activities for agricultural and small business products
- Oversee the ministry’s local chicken distribution initiative
- Manage group loans for Income Generating Activities (IGAs), including monitoring repayments and follow-ups
- Support farmers through market linkages and cooperative development
- Facilitate Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and train groups in financial literacy and management
- Vocational Skills Training
- Organize and conduct vocational skills trainings for women and youth, including tailoring, sewing, carpentry, and related practical skills
- Support trainees in starting small businesses and accessing markets
- Maintain vocational training materials, equipment, and records at the training centre
- Community Transformation Facilitation
- Lead community meetings, workshops, and awareness sessions addressing social and economic challenges
- Work with local leaders and communities to identify needs and develop practical solutions
- Monitor project implementation and prepare progress reports
- Project Visibility, Monitoring & ICT Support
- Develop simple monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and indicators
- Document project success stories, reports, and photographs for partners and donors
- Use ICT tools and social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook for communication, reporting, and project visibility
- Church Planting & Pastor Training
- Train lay pastors in basic theology, pastoral care, leadership, and church administration
- Support newly established churches with systems, planning, and record management
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma or Degree in Community Development, with additional knowledge and skills in Education, Agriculture, Business, Theology, Vocational Training, ICT or a related field
- Practical knowledge in tailoring, sewing, carpentry, or related trades
- Experience in managing group loans, VSLAs, cooperatives, or microfinance activities
- Experience in facilitation, training, partnership building, or community/church development work
- Knowledge of proposal writing, project planning, and basic monitoring and evaluation
- Basic ICT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, WhatsApp, social media, and report writing
- Strong communication skills in both Chichewa and English
- Ability to work independently and travel within Balaka, Ntcheu, Machinga & Lilongwe districts
- Willingness to relocate to Balaka
Added Advantage
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience working with ECM, CHAM, or other faith-based organizations
- A valid motorcycle riding licence will be an added advantage
