About Mzuzu International Academy
Mzuzu International Academy is a co-educational institution offering day (Reception–Year 6) and boarding (Years 7–11) education. Located on the outskirts of Mzuzu, the school follows the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and serves over 400 students. The Academy is seeking a qualified Chef to support its catering operations.
Job Overview
The Chef will be responsible for food preparation, kitchen operations, hygiene, and ensuring meals meet required nutritional standards for students and staff.
The Role
- Prepare and serve meals in line with nutritional and quality standards
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety
- Manage food inventory, storage, and distribution
- Support menu planning and efficient use of ingredients
- Control portion sizes and minimize food waste
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen and equipment
- Support kitchen staff during operations and shifts
- Oversee back-of-house operations including maintenance and supplies
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Culinary Arts, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy kitchen or cafeteria environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
