Accounts and Administration Assistant

Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Position: Full-time
Level: Entry level

Nyasa Express Limited is seeking a motivated and
detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounts and Administration
Assistant. The successful candidate will support the Finance and Administration
function with day-to-day accounting, record-keeping and general office
administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing
    supplier invoices and maintaining accounts payable records.
  • Preparing
    customer invoices, statements and accounts receivable schedules.
  • Following
    up on outstanding customer balances.
  • Recording
    receipts and payments in the accounting system.
  • Assisting
    with bank, cash and supplier reconciliations.
  • Maintaining
    accurate filing of financial and administrative documents.
  • Assisting
    with payroll information and statutory payment schedules.
  • Supporting
    the preparation of VAT, PAYE, withholding tax and other statutory returns.
  • Assisting
    with monthly financial reporting and audit information requests.
  • Other
    general admin duties including banking, filing, procurement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma
    or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a
    related field.
  • A
    professional accounting qualification (CPA, ICAM), or progress towards an
    accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Basic
    understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Basic
    knowledge of Malawi tax and statutory requirements would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency
    in Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience
    with Xero, QuickBooks or another accounting package would be an advantage.
  • A
    valid driver’s licence would be an added advantage.
