Avrico Estates Ltd is seeking an experienced, practical, and
hands-on Farm Manager to join our growing Hass avocado operation in Lilongwe,
Malawi.
POSITION: FARM MANAGER
Location:Â Lilongwe
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded
agricultural professional to take ownership of the day-to-day management of
farm operations and play an important role in developing a sustainable,
efficient, and high-value horticulture enterprise.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong
practical farming experience in commercial agriculture. - Proven
leadership and team supervision skills. - A
genuine understanding of orchard management, crop nutrition, and soil
health. - Experience
in avocado production, horticulture, or orchard management, which will be
a strong advantage. - The
ability to manage irrigation systems, pest and disease management
programmes, and farm infrastructure. - Good
record-keeping and reporting skills. - A willingness
to work closely with agronomy experts and implement recommended best
practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Farm Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing
the day-to-day operations of the farm and avocado orchard. - Monitoring
tree health, growth, nutrition, and soil conditions. - Managing
irrigation and water systems. - Planning
and supervising fertiliser, pest, and disease management programmes. - Overseeing
land preparation, planting, pruning, and general orchard maintenance. - Supervising,
training, and developing the farm team. - Maintaining
accurate farm records and preparing regular progress reports. - Working
closely with agronomy experts to implement best farming practices. - Managing
farm equipment, materials, and infrastructure. - Supporting
the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable and efficient farming.
